KSRTC - Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation

The state road transport company of Karnataka state is KSRTC (Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation). The corporation established in 1961 under the road transport corporation Act 1950. KSRTC is fully owned by Karnataka State Government, Indian Government is also a share holder in KSRTC. Majorly KSRTC offers its services in Karnataka, India. The corporation runs twenty two lack km daily across more three thousand destinations. KSRTC is the first company in India who launches Volvo B7RLE low body city buses in Bangalore. Volvo B7RLE is very comfortable, luxurious, air conditioned busses with better suspensions on all four wheels.



In August 1997 KSRTC is divided and a new company formed by name Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), before this division KSRTC had a fleet of ten thousand and four hundred buses which runs on nine thousand five hundred schedules. BMTC is formed to fulfill the road transport requirements of Bangalore city and reduce the loads of KSRTC. In same year, November month KSRTC further divided and a new road transport corporation formed knows as NWKRTC (North West Karnataka Road Transport Corporation) which fulfills requirements of North West cities and towns of Karnataka, its head office is in Hubli. Recently KSRTC again divided and NEKRTC (North East Karnataka Road Transport Corporation) is formed which fulfills requirement of North East cities and towns of Karnataka. The head office of NEKRTC is in Gulbarga.

KSRTC Karnataka runs all types of buses- deluxe, semi deluxe, ordinary, air conditioned, Volvo etc. As per records of 2010 KSRTC is the biggest state owned operator of Volvo buses. Now days KSRTC buses runs approximately twenty four lakhs km per day on six thousand four hundred and sixty three schedules. The corporation provides its services to almost twenty four and half lacks passengers daily. KSRTC covers 92% of villages and 44% other areas.

KSRTC services almost all villages in Karnataka. At present, 92% villages are served by KSRTC (6743 out of 7298 Villages) and 44% in other areas (6743 out of 7298).[3] KSRTC operates 6463 schedules in a day covering an effective distance of 23.74 lakh km with a total fleet of 7599 buses. It transports, on an average, 24.57 lakh passengers per day.
